Don't Quit

We have been in this business for 4 decades and we have seen many things come and go and faced every challenge you can imagine. 

One thing that remains the same...diligence will always win the race! 

Like the fairy tale of the tortoise and the hare, we must be diligent, putting one foot in front of the other, knowing that we can make it to the finish line if we don't quit. 

The bible says this, “The plans of the diligent lead surely to plenty, but those of everyone who is hasty, surely to poverty.” Proverbs 21:5

Ralph Waldo Emerson said, "Our greatest glory is not in never failing, but in rising up every time we fail."

2020 as a whole gave us more reasons than ever to give up. 

Many in this profession have closed their doors, retired or gone onto other ways to make income.

I will say this about our business..."there but for the grace of God, go we." 

So how do we stay encouraged?

On top of our foundation of faith in God, we continue to hone our skills, lean on our experience, keep our integrity intact, continue educating ourselves to stay current and relevant and we are blessed with the strength of our friends in this profession. 

We fully expect to be standing, year after year, and stronger than ever.

Years ago, when our challenge was the economy, I heard a young photographer say, "I choose not to participate in this recession and my business is flourishing!" I LOVE that! 

Another photographer I heard said he doesn't listen to the news anymore as it is always discouraging. He said what he hears gets into his head and then affects his thoughts to such a degree that he needs to carefully watch and edit what he hears. I believe that is great advice for all of us.

This week, I leave you with this quote, "Between you and every goal that you wish to achieve, there is a series of obstacles, and the bigger the goal, the bigger the obstacles. Your decision to be, have and do something out of the ordinary entails facing difficulties and challenges that are out of the ordinary as well. Sometimes your greatest asset is simply your ability to stay with it longer than anyone else."
