Battling Chaos and Negativity

The meaning of life is to find your gift.

The purpose of life is to give it away!

                                                                                       Pablo Picasso

Don’t take life too seriously.

Have fun! Laugh. Smile at strangers. And look at the big picture…or, in other words, step back from the trees so that you can see the forest!

I thought I would share 3 positive thoughts as there is so much negativity around us. It's time to get back on track!

1.  A few years ago, we had the pleasure of traveling to Ireland to speak at their photography convention and while there, we met another speaker who really impressed us! He talked about motivation and positive thinking and one thing he said stuck with us then and is still what we do today.

What is it? It is so simple, but profound! This is it...NEVER, EVER SAY YES, BUT...instead, say, YES, AND. So, remember, YES, AND gets rid of negative thinking and allows creative brainstorming to happen.

When you say YES, BUT, it puts up a wall that becomes a stumbling block and limits creativity.

2.  Change is inevitable and needs to be embraced which means our minds needs to be upgraded much like our computers. We cannot keep doing the same thing the same way and expect different results-we must learn to think in a new way.

How? Read books, join a small group of others who are on your path or just ahead of you business wise, talk with others who are doing what you want to do, hang around successful people who uplift you and on and on!

"Being selective with your best friends becomes more strategic over the years, and for good reason. It's been said that the five people closest to you shape your success, your interests and much more about you — maybe more than we even realize."   ~elitedaily.com

3.  We learned that what we listened to the most filled our minds and changed our attitudes, but with doubt and fear, not hope and success. If we heard a negative news story, it started to create FEAR (False Evidence Altering Reality) in us.

Our solution...start listening to more positive messages, giving our minds something new to focus on. We are much like a computer-what we take in, we spit out.

On a final note, we have been listening to Dr. Caroline Leaf, a cognitive neuroscientist with a PhD in Communication Pathology specializing in Neuropsychology. Say that three times-ha ha!

She is soooo interesting and talks a lot about our brains and how we can improve its functioning by what we listen to the most. We are determined to "reset" our brain this coming year and grow it too:-) She has a podcast too:-)

Here is her website: http://drleaf.com/
