Narrow your focus to broaden your appeal

Attracting high-end clients.

Have a distinct artistic style and don't do too many things.

Be a specialist: Narrow your offerings to broaden your appeal.

Remember, it is more important that people know what you do than love what you do.

Why?

Those who LOVE what you do will do whatever it takes to get to you.

Those who do not LOVE what you do will go elsewhere...win-win!

This allows you to hone in on a targeted niche and start building your "tribe" who connect strongly with you and what you offer.

They LOVE what you do!

If you try to be everything to everybody, you end up being lost in the masses.

CREATE GAPS.

You don't want to fight for a small share in a diluted market...be the one who rises to the top.

When you know your ideal client, you will have a more focused and defined approach to your marketing, much like shooting a bow and arrow at a target and hitting the bullseye.

You can provide more attention to each client when you have a focused group, making them feel as if they are your only client.

But, when you have chaos and run from one thing to another, it is hard to pay enough attention to each client and you may lose them in the shuffle.

Also, you can tailor your branding, messaging, products and services specifically to resonate with your own audience when that audience is a well-defined group.

The goal is to attract your ideal client by providing incredible targeted value, rather than trying to be everything for everybody.

A business that commits to specialization (and doing less) can actually gain more loyalty and authority in its market.

You can offer a "white-glove" service.

Customized, concierge-style service makes clients feel special and cared for.

We took this to heart when we asked Deborah to be part of the Walden Team. She is our designer and stylist, a concierge for our clients who need a helping hand and her presence adds so much pampering for our clients.

By focusing on these areas, boutique portrait studios can attract and retain clients who appreciate fine photography and a high-quality, exclusive experience.

To Do:

This week, take a look at what you offer. Is it too fractured, too much? Are you fatigued keeping up with it all?

Now is the time to start narrowing your offerings and solidifying your vision for the business you would like to have.
