Context is KING!

How can you provide a visual in the selection appointment that puts size in proper CONTEXT?

This may be old news to some, new to others...

but it is vitally important to ALL!

Once you put the proper context into a sale, you will be much more successful in selling the correct size for your client's space in their home.

When your client sees their portrait, hanging on their wall, in their home in the correct size for their space...your sales will be so much more successful and satisfying. And you can do just that with ProSelect sales software.

With ProSelect's ability to virtually show a portrait from a session hanging in that client's home, our sales potential skyrocketed! We have always done projection sales, but this feature takes it to a new level!

But what if we could not go to every client's home and do the snapshots of their wall spaces ourselves...what should we do?

We decided to not let anything stand in our way on this subject-it was too vital for successful sales. After all, how many clients think an 11x14 is HUGE?! And how many of us know that an 11x14 is SMALL and not appropriate to hang over a couch. It would be swallowed up!

Here's what we do:

Our first choice is to do the Design appointment in the client's home to see their decor, create relationships, find out about their personalities and take photos of possible places for a wall portrait.

Our second choice is to do a Zoom Design appointment and send them the link to the video about how to do the photos themselves and then send the photos to us to put into ProSelect before their sale.

Using our own home as the example, Tim created a video, going throughout the first floor, showing many places we could hang portraits. Partially done with the Canon and partially done with a GoPro, we felt it hit just the right notes of comfort and information to let our clients know it is not hard to do.

We have "kits" with painter tape, a black marker and a few sheets of white 8.5x11 inch paper to send to clients who don't have these few things handy.

We also created a PDF to send to our clients (excerpt below is taken from the PDF) that illustrates general sizing information along with written instructions on how to snap photos in their homes.
Did you know there is actually a formula for figuring out the correct size that is proportionate to the wall space.

Here it is:

Multiply your wall space (in inches) by .57 or 4/7 as a decimal. So if you measured 36 inches, the proper size would be 20-21 inches wide or a minimum of 2/3 as wide as the area.

Help both yourself and your client out by providing context.

"Don't choose art too small for the space or the wall you want to hang it. I repeat, don't choose art too small! If you do go with an art piece that's too small for a room, it'll make the entire room—and all the furnishings in it—feel like it's out of scale and out of balance."
